Who are we?
We are a group of four friends trying to create our own music. Our band Maabhoi is a newborn in the world of independent Bengali Music.
Our journey started in 2017 with the dream of carrying the torch of quintessential ‘Bangaliana’ through our songs. Songs of Maabhoi are reminiscent of the gold in Indian popular music which made the pre-millenial youth’s heart swoon and croon.
Maabhoi is about celebrating that nostalgia while we move on. The songs created the band and like the pop of a wine cork, Maabhoi came gushing out – exuberant, celebratory and meant to inebriate
আশি আর নব্বইয়ের দশকে বড়ো হয়ে ওঠার স্মৃতি অথবা স্বর্ণযুগের বাংলা গান……..প্রথম প্রেমের উজ্বলতায় মোড়া কৈশোর আর প্রথম বিচ্ছেদের সঙ্গী হিসেবে রবীন্দ্রনাথ……..মাভৈএর গান, কিছু ফেলে আসা সময়ের জবানবন্দি|
কিন্তু শুধু বড়ো হয়ে ওঠা নয়, মাভৈএর গান বহন করে সময়হীন ভালোবাসার চালচিত্র, চিরন্তন বিষন্নতার ছায়াছবি| সেই ছবিতে ভাটিয়ালি এসে মিশে যায় ব্লুজএ, ১৯৯০ একাত্ম হয়ে যায় ২০১৯ এ আর সলিল চৌধুরীর হাত ধরে হাঁটেন কবির সুমন|
আর আছে শহর, ভালোবাসার শহর কল্লোলিনী তিলোত্তমা| যেখান থেকে চারজনের চলার শুরু| সেই শহরটাও কোথায় যেন একটা চরিত্র হয়ে ওঠে, সাক্ষী থাকে মাভৈএর নতুন পথ চলার|
